Indian IT Cost hit by the rising dollar

While the chinese IPO’s (Alibaba.com) are getting huge valuations..many Indian IT cos are hit by the falling dollar.

Most of these companies depend on the US for their revenues and a fall in the dollar has a direct impact on their revenue.

Google has started a new program to seed startup Google Gadget Developers. The program is called Google Ventures

To get into the program you need to have a Google Gadget which has more than 250000 hits per month.

Then you can submit a plan for the Google Venture programme.

Orkut OpenSocial Component development tool

Google has kept a good job at keeping orkut open social components simple. Orkut OpenSocial components can be developed as Google Gadgets.

Google gadget has an online gadget editor. You can play with the online gadget editor and test your component.

(We will not go into the code part in this post)

Once the component is ready, you can click save and assign a name to it. If you click on the name on the gadget editor, you will see an online URL for your gadget.

The gadget is now ready to be added to your orkut sandbox, to see it running.

On the left hand side..you will see a link called “applications”

Once you click the link “applications” on the right hand side..you will see a list of application and a textfield+button for “adding application by url”.

Use this option to add your Open Social gadge to your orkut sandbox by URL.
